In October of this year, the first event organized by the British-Uzbek Legal Association (BrULA) together with the international law firm Norton Rose Fulbright took place in London. This event became an important starting point in the development of institutional cooperation between the two legal systems. As an active supporter of international legal collaboration, PraeLegal Uzbekistan participated in this professional gathering. With its thematic focus on “Energy, Infrastructure, and Dispute Resolution in Uzbekistan,” the event became a truly historic moment — vibrant, substantive, and uniting the legal communities of both countries on an entirely new level.
The key outcome was the formal strengthening of BrULA’s role - the first and only specialized association created to support long-term institutional cooperation between the legal communities of the United Kingdom and Uzbekistan. Its establishment opens unlimited prospects: from deepening professional dialogue and sharing advanced expertise to developing joint initiatives capable of influencing the evolution of the legal environment on an international scale.
Participants noted that BrULA is already becoming a point of attraction for leading experts, setting the direction for a new stage of cooperation between the UK and Uzbekistan. The event strengthened trust, created a space for constructive discussion of current legal challenges, and highlighted the essential role of international engagement in the modern legal world.
Speakers and participants included:
• Rupert D'Cruz KC, King’s Counsel, Barrister, Littleton Chambers
• Julia Barnes, Managing Partner, Barnes Law Associates
• Sherzod Abdulkasimov, Co-Managing Partner, Founder, PraeLegal Uzbekistan / Co-Founder of BrULA

The idea of BrULA emerged from the desire to bring together people, projects, and initiatives that contribute to developing professional, educational, and business ties between the two countries.
The Association brings together lawyers, attorneys, researchers, academics, government representatives, entrepreneurs, and business communities, creating an environment where every voice matters and every professional contribution becomes part of collective progress.
Such meetings not only strengthen professional relationships but also create unique opportunities for joint projects and the formation of a sustainable, dynamic legal community. We look to the future with confidence, anticipating new achievements, fruitful dialogue, and expanding horizons of partnership between the legal professionals of our countries.
